I’ve got news for you – I wasn’t always in full embrace of who I was.

It wasn’t until I became a parent myself that I was confronted with the fact that in order to be a full and complete parent for my daughter, I had to accept all parts of myself and who I was as a person.

How could I expect her to be true to herself and accept herself fully, when I couldn’t even do it? So that meant delving into my own issues surrounding my cleft and how that shaped who I am today. And let me tell you, it wasn’t always pretty. It took a lot of work, a lot of self-reflection, and a lot of hard truths realized for me to get where I am today.

It is from this work that I want to share not only my process with others, but more so, to share my experience so that others may not have to wait as long as I did to fully accept themselves as they are.

Quotes to Inspire

I love quotes. From Brene' Brown to Wayne Dyer, and many others, there is something so comforting in reading a few words from someone who may have felt like I do at a particular moment. The cleft journey is one that is full of ups and downs, challenges, and triumphs, and finding little moments of inspiration or understanding through the words of others has always been a great help to me, and so I put some of my favorite quotes together in the hopes you'll find some comfort too.
